On Sunday, July 14, 2013, People Power Movement - Movimiento Poder Popular participated in the New York #HoodiesUp Trayvon March against the racist verdict claiming George Zimmerman not guilty of murdering 17 year old Trayvon Martin.

We caught up with the march, which started at Union Sq 14th st, later at 23rd st and Broadway. We marched to Times Sq. where we shut down traffic for a good amount of time, and then continued on a journey towards Harlem during which we were met with resistance from police, leading up to several arrests.

We decided to depart at 79st and 2nd ave. after an overwhelming police presence broke up the marching group. Afterwards, however, the remaining group continued on through Harlem and into the Bronx, where they stopped at the Bronx Criminal Courthouse on 161st and Grand Concourse.
