Political Education Study Collective
Welcome to a weekly political education study session series hosted by Joe Kaye. These sessions cover various topics that focus on struggles throughout (our)story against sexism, capitalism, imperialism, colonialism, racism, and other systems of oppression. This week, we will be focusing on the Non-Profit Industrial Complex, or as Joe calls it, “The Left Arm of the Ruling Class.” The non-profit sector has been the go-to place for mainstream activism. However, non-profits often sustain the very same problems they aim to eradicate, leaving little to no room for a real change against this capitalist system. We shall also talk about class influences in SNCC. We will be discussing the book The Revolution Will Not be Funded edited by INCITE! Women of Color Against Violence. Please read the Introduction for Wednesday. You can read more if you want. A free version is online here.
A decent article on the non-profit industrial complex can be found here. Refreshments will be served!
